Hi! My name is Lydia, and I am a Peer Advisor here at TMCC. I am currently getting an associate's in Human Development and Family Studies and plan on transferring to UNR for my bachelor's.
I was born and raised in Nevada and love the Reno community that I grew up in. In my free time, you can find me with my three dogs, Chelsea, Ginger, and Reagan, making random trips to Tahoe, obsessing over Marvel movies, meditating, reading, buying plants that I don't have space for, and annoying my older sister.
Like many students, I struggled a lot when I first started college, especially being freshly out of the pandemic and in my first year of college at UNR taking 16 credits. I ended up failing two classes, changing my major, and transferring to TMCC, which I believe is what saved my educational career. Once I decided to study HDFS, I really fell in love with school again and felt some peace in knowing what I wanted to do. I value the struggle I went through in my first year of college because I learned so much from it and can share it with others.
Safe to say, this is a judgment-free zone, and we can cry together about college. I hope to provide support and guidance and be a friendly face on campus. I look forward to talking with you about your journey!
